South Van Patten Residence

Versailles, KY

The volumes of the steel, stone and glass structure are intended to appear part of the hillside, tracing a curve of land that rises above an expanse of wide meadow sloping down to a tree-lined creek along the property’s southern edge.

This project allows the merging of interior space and outdoor environment, giving the client the comfort of simple spaces, and the visual pleasure of unfolding changes in the natural environment that connected them to this stunning rural landscape before design or construction ever began.

Environmental Features, Passive Solar Heating, Abundant Controlled Natural Daylighting, Locally-Sourced Materials , Energy-Efficient Geo-Thermal HVAC.

Architect | Susan Stokes Hill, AIA
